Music I'm Listening To (June 2021)

My first "listening post" was three months ago. I've recorded some stuff since then, but I think it would be neat to continue this anyways. I'll post a new one every three months.

Here are another three things I've been listening to:

Olivia Rodrigo - SOUR

I was talking to someone about "driver's license" a little while ago, and they were like, she's going to be the next Taylor Swift. I was skeptical at the time, but not anymore. Olivia Rodrigo is the next Taylor Swift, and she even gets to curse on her first album.

Lawrence - Don't Lose Sight

Lawrence has been my favorite band since whenever I first heard Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me?. Their sound has changed over the years but this one's still got it. Hearing it was oddly familiar - this song is definitely reminiscent of their cover of Shawn Mendes' "If I Can't Have You", which has since disappeared from the internet, so I can't link it here to prove it. But you don't need to listen to that cover, because this song is better.

Lake Street Dive - Hypotheticals

Lake Street Dive delivers with another catchy and cute song that reminds me of their past Saving All My Sinning. This whole album, Obviously (named for the first line of Hypotheticals), is really good actually, but this one stood out even more (perhaps because of how relatable it is). As a side note on Lake Street Dive, I recently found out they've been together for 17 years (sadly on a post about a founding member leaving). That's absurd. I can only hope to be a part of something for as long.

Again, send me recs if you have them.
